Recently I launched TVnotify.com. TVnotify is a website that will send you notifications via RSS/E-mail and more, whenever a new episode of your favorite TV show airs.
The website was born out of frustration with the writers strike and the confusion that led from it. After rechecking TV series every week to see if there were any new episodes I got frustrated and decided to create a site devoted to my problem.
The site design, HTML and CSS was done by my good friend and colleague Jonno Riekwel. The rest of the site was built by me and was created using Ruby On Rails.
Soon I will be integrating twitter notifications and iCal feeds.
If anyone has any questions or suggestions I will be happy to hear them!
Yesterday I tried installing Hieraki2 but because of the lack of documentation if found myself bumping into bugs and unforseen issues. So now for everyone wanting to install Hieraki2 here is what you have to do:
David Black is teaching a one day Rails workshop in Amsterdam. This will be held at september the 18th and will cost € 399 for the early birds and € 500,000,000 € 449 for the slow people.
I think these are very reasonable prices for such a great workshop. As most of your average workshops are € 500 a day and don’t have a world famous, top-of-the-line teacher.
It was lots of fun and I met quite a few interesting people. Not all talks where as good as each other, but I very much enjoyed the “Why Django?” by Simon de Haan and the “Unicode in Rails” by Julian ‘Julik’ Tarkhanov presentation.
Some time now I have been meaning to organize an event of my own. I thought it would be fun to get together in a cafe/pub, drink beer and socialize with the whole Dutch Ruby on Rails and I thought the name Ruby On Beers was appropriate.
In my last post I mentioned Ruby On Beers and the reactions I got where all positive so I made a logo for it:
RubyEnRails has finished and it was a great success. There where about 120 people there. Most of them hadn't worked with rails longer than 6 months. I also got to know quite allot of people.
The sponsors (Profict and Finalist) did a good job of setting up the event and the venue where this was held was very nice but it took quite long to get there.
I'm all ready looking forward to next years RubyEnRails. Maybe we should organise something in the meantime. We could all meet up somewhere and have a few beers; Ruby on Beers.
The Dutch Ruby on Rails conference RubyEnRails is starting in just a few hours and I'm getting ready.
I'll post some photos online at the end of the day and I'll tell you how it all went.
